Person behind the brand
Fernando Santos, (Jewellery designer & Maker). “I’ve trained as a jeweller and gem setter at a renowned Jewellery school in Porto, Portugal. After finishing my studies I’ve had the opportune to move to Paris and then London, where I had the opportunity to work for some of the most prestigious Jewellery companies in the world, where I was able to acquire high level of technicality. I’ve had a business partnership where I started exploring my creativity and technicality to its full, and whilst being able to participated on different jewellery fairs across the UK such as Handmade Chelsea and International jewellery London among others. After accumulating all this experience, the creation of Melo jewellery was inevitable. My goal is to create something unique, the perfect treasure, to capture a moment or felling in my pieces.
We are paying attention to our environmental footprint: we are actively researching and developing ways to reduce our impact as much as we can. We are committed to becoming fully sustainable as our business develops. We use recycled silver, gold and platinum, and offer the use of Fair Trade silver and gold. We work mainly on a made-to-order basis to avoid waste, and all of the pieces are made in the UK. We naturally only use conflict-free diamonds. We will also work with recycled gemstones (either your own, or we can source some for you), as long as we have accessed their quality before the making process.
